Omega have been providing James Bond timepieces for over two decades now, ever since 1995’s Goldeneye. Let’s take a look back over all the Omega Seamaster models worn by Bond over the years…
The Omega Seamaster Professional originally launched two years previously in 1993 by the Swatch Group as a professional diving watch.
James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) wore the watch during the Goldeneye film in 1995.
In this particular film the watch features a detonator for bombs and a laser to help him escape from a train.
1997 Tomorrow Never Dies
Design-wise this watch was the same as in the previous film with a blue dive bezel with aluminium insert and the helium valve at 10.
Bond opted for the Omega Seamaster professional with an automatic caliber and intergrated detonator.
1999 The World Is Not Enough
Again sticking with the Seamaster Professional with automatic movement for The World Is Not Enough film but with even more spy features.
In the 1999 movie, the bezel of the watch hides a grappling hook which lifts OO7 out of an avalanche.
2002 Die Another Day
To mark the 40th anniversary of OO7’s first screen appearance and the release of Die Another Day, Omega released a limited edition Seamaster 300 (not worn in the movie) with automatic movement but in place of the wave pattern is the OO7 gun logo.
In the actual film the Omega Seamaster 300 with automatic movement was again used. There was no technical or visual updates to this particular timepiece.
2006 Casino Royale
Casino Royale saw a new actor take on the role of James Bond and with that came a slightly different timepiece.
The Omega Seamaster 300 got a slight upgrade and now featured a co-axial movement. In the first part of the movie though, OO7 is able to survive in dangerous underwater situations with the brand new Seamaster Planet Ocean featuring a 45.5mm diameter, an Omega caliber 2500 with co-axial escapement and is water-resistant to 600 meters.
2008 Quantum Of Solace
When Quantum Of Solace was released in 2008, Bonds watch changed from the Blue Omega Seamaster Professional to the Seamaster Planet Ocean.
This watch design is reminiscent of the Seamaster watches of the 1960’s.
Unlike the previous movies, Bond wears several watches during Skyfall in 2012 including one that was specially made.
Bonds Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m has a titanium case unlike the serially manufactured version which is stainless steel. Both are fitted with Calibre 8500.
Daniel Craig wore the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra in the opening of Spectre. For the rest of the 2015 film, Bond sports the Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre, which alludes to a predecessor from the 1960’s.
